The Student Visa (Subclass 500) enables international students to undertake full-time education and training in Australia. Study at world-class institutions while gaining valuable work experience and building your future career.
Essential requirements you need to meet for your Student Visa 500 application
Must be enrolled in a full-time course with an Australian education provider and obtain written confirmation of enrollment (CoE). Predominantly online courses are not eligible.
Must demonstrate genuine intention to stay in Australia temporarily for study purposes, including evidence of ties to home country and economic circumstances.
Must demonstrate sufficient funds to cover travel, 12 months of living expenses, tuition fees, and costs for any accompanying family members (minimum AUD $29,710 annually).
Must meet English language requirements: IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) for direct entry, 5.0 for ELICOS packages, 5.5 for foundation programs. Tests valid for 2 years.
Must have OSHC for the entire duration of your stay in Australia, covering you and any accompanying family members.
Must meet health and character requirements including medical examinations and police certificates as required by Australian migration law.

Under Australian migration law, Student visas cannot be extended. You must apply for a new visa if you need more time.
Timing: Apply for a new Student visa at least six weeks before your existing visa expires.
If your study is ending, you can apply for a Visitor visa before your Student visa expires.
